A new church has been established on Virtual Congress: The Church of Don. Originating on Virtual City, one of Virtual Congress’ sister servers, the Church of Don is a monotheistic religion worshipping a being named Don, also known as the co-owner and occasional Admin of Virtual Congress. This recent outbreak of religion coincided with a dedicated theology channel opening up.
As stated in an exclusive interview with Don, “I don’t know a whole lot regarding its origins, but I’ve found it to be pretty funny and creative.” The research by this paper has been able to shed some light onto the mysterious origins of the Church of Don as well as a closer look onto its scripture and beliefs. Current Secretary of State Pluribus, first known member and founder of the Cult of Don, elaborated: “Well I started holding some Don Cult meetings at first in Virtual Congress voice chat.” Congressman Kristensen, a former Vice Presidential Candidate, has written the Book of Don, an extensive document covering the entire theological outline of the beliefs of the Don Church. Many prominent members of Virtual Congress have openly admitted to following the church and believing in Don, including multiple cabinet officials, the Minority Leader and even the Vice President, although not all seem to agree. A conflict between believers and non-believers broke out a few days ago, bringing the first signs of a schism to Virtual Congress. If this conflict will further escalate or peace will reign, the Church of Don seems to be unlikely to fade any time soon.
