12 Questions, 1 Candidate: Antonio

This interview was held on July 26, 2020 via text, every answer is printed here as given by the candidate with edits indicated in brackets. The Candidate was asked 12 questions in 2 segments, the order of which he was given free choice.

About the Minority Whip:

Antonio is a Democrat from Maine who currently serves as a Whip. He was previously a member of the Republican and Libertarian parties.

Personal

1. Why do you think you should be President?

Antonio: I am willing to do whatever it takes to preserve the integrity of this beloved nation. I will do the best of my ability to serve this country. I have planned to run for a while and I believe I am finally ready to take this on.

2. How would you describe yourself politically?

A: I’m very libertarian, I am extremely progressive and I would consider myself somewhere in the center economically.

3. What do you like to do for fun?

A: I usually find Virtual congress taking up a lot of my time and I find that very fun, I also run and lift weights and occasionally I’d hang out with friends or play PS4.

4. What is your favorite book?

A: Of Mice and Men.

5. What is your go-to movie or TV series?

A: I would definitely put Pokemon, The Office, and Bojack horseman at a 3 way tie.

6. What is your running mate’s best quality?

A: She is very kind and likable, she has a great moral compass as well.


Political

1. What would be your first priority as President?

A: Heavy police and justice system reform.

2. What are your views on healthcare?

A: I believe in a public option, but I respect and have no problem with private healthcare organizations.

3. How would you summarize your approach to social issues such as LGBTQ rights, abortion and capital punishment?

A: I am a proud and strong ally of the LGBTQ+ community and I 100% support them. I would consider myself pro-choice, although I do view abortion as wrong, I will not limit a womans choice to do what she wants with her body. And on capital punishment, I am very passionate on my stance, I believe that purposely taking away someone else’s life, a life with value, in most cases I do not think they should continue to be apart of society or just alive in general.

4. What is your foreign policy philosophy?

A: I would view foreign policy as opportunity to create, and strengthen relationships outside of the US. And as president I will be willing to do exactly that.

5. What do you view as a political issue that isn’t discussed enough?

A: The conflicts in Africa, including but not limited to, Liberia, DRC, Sudan.

6. If you had to summarize what your campaign stands for in one word, what would that be?

A: Opportunity.
