About the Representative:

Spiral is an Independent representing Texas in Virtual Congress. He, unlike the Democratic and Republican candidates, needs 10 pledged supporters to end up on the ballot.

Personal

1. Why do you think you should be President?

Spiral: I represent the server. I’m not some policy robot. I’m someone that represents what the server is about and is willing to make it better. I’m responsible and I’ve show that through the bills I’ve passed and proposed. I’m here to do what’s needed to make the server better and I will.

2. How would you describe yourself politically?

S: I’d say I’m more on the left to be honest but I’m willing to listen to the right and understand their side. I’m on different sides of the spectrum depending on the issue usually, so it’s hard to say specifically. I don’t want to define myself and constrain myself to one side when some of those sides’ policies will hurt people and some of the others will hurt people.

3. What are you doing currently besides Congress?

S: I play soccer a bit not in a league or anything, though, but it’s fun.

4. What do you like to do for fun?

S: I like to just hang out with my friends, hang out on the internet, all the usual. I’m also a fan of biking recently.

5. What is your favorite book?

S: I read the giver a while back. I thought it was pretty solid.

6. Who are your political heroes (can be fictional characters)?

S: [I]n real life, and actually, I’m not sure I’ve got a political hero. I think that most politicians have their strengths but none of them stand out as top tier my hero-worthy.

7. What item can you not live without?

S: A music player, I need my music.

Platform and Policy

1. What would be your first priority as President?

S: I’ll keep it simple and say to provide a good server experience even if it’s virtual. [T]he server is built on the members we’ve gotta prioritize them, they’re what keep[s] the server active and help build it up and I believe we’ve got to focus on that some more than we are right now, I’d also keep it simple on the policy side and simply say that I’d like to strengthen the country with policies that benefit the people rather than hurt them, they’re our best interest.

2. What is your position on the agendas of former President CollinMatthew and current President Starro?

S: Well he’s kept order which is something that I can commend him for he’s done a few things that I’ve found to be a bit off, but overall there’s not much to complain about since he hasn’t had a very long term or too long to do a lot. [W]e didn’t elect him or see him run so we don’t know many of his specific policies from what he’s said.

3. What are your views on healthcare?

S: Public and Private options. That’s the best way to go about it. We don’t need to complicate this at all. If you want to keep your private healthcare that’s ok. If you want to switch to public that’s also ok. It’s about the people’s choice and what they think is better for them.

4. How would you summarize your approach to social equality?

S: Nobody should be discriminated for their religion, race, beliefs or any of the sort. [A]s a nation we’re making progress to give minority groups representation and an equal standing, so it’s very important we elect someone that continues this progress rather than drive it backwards, for social equality is the basis of a functioning society and my policies will continue the efforts of this.

5. Elaborate on your foreign policy philosophy

S: We’ve always been a beacon of freedom since we were founded. [W]e have to help these nations and groups that are struggling around the world while balancing their issues with our own. I disagree when people come up and say we can only focus on one or the other. [B]y helping these developing nations grow through developmental aide[sic] we lessen their issues and then we can focus on ours more. [Y]eah, we can’t help everyone, but we should strive to create a better world. [W]e’re an example for the world so we’ve got to create a better one.

6. What do you view as an issue that isn’t discussed enough?

S: [A]utomation. [It has] been touched on in the recent irl elections, but I don’t think it’s started to sink in on people how close it is and it’s actually already becoming a reality. [W]e’ve got to start looking towards that and seeing how we can create jobs for these people that will lose them through automation.

7. What is an issue you would not compromise on?

S: Aspects of Immigration. I won’t compromise on removing birthright citizenship and I won’t ever fund a wall of any sort because it’s been proven a waste of funds since it won’t be effective. I’ll also always advocate for a form of [DACA] to exist. [W]e can’t jeopardize millions of innocent young people’s lives just because they weren’t born here.

Campaign

1. Why do you think you would make a better President than President Starro?

S: I have more of a connection with the people of the server. I think to be [P]resident you need to be someone that can build trust and a sturdy connection. Starro has talked to the server in general but I don’t think he understands how much the members have an impact on the servers success. I’m not just a policy robot to pop up and talk about issues once in a while. I’m here to build connections with the server and at the same time implement and enforce policies that make the server better. I believe I have more of the members interests in mind than Starro does and I’m more of a representative of what this server is than he is and that’s what a [P]resident should be. a representation of the people they represent.

2. How do you plan on beating the other candidates?

S: By making connections with the server and not trying to act like I’m superior to anyone because I’m not. I’m just like any other member I just happen to be running for President. I’m not about to strut around and say I’m the peak of the member list, I just happen to believe I know what the server wants and have shown myself to be responsible.

3. What is your campaign slogan?

S: I guess it’ll be “because you can”, but I won’t make that official or anything. I don’t think I need a catchy slogan. [M]y policies should stand for themselves without the need for a catchy slogan.

4.. Some of your opponents in the primary have already released advertisement, what will be your campaign’s media strategy?

S: I’ll release my key policies in some form, but I won’t be stitching together a video. [M]aybe a poster or two media is important but it’s not the most important. If someone wants to vote for me they’ll vote for me whether I have a flashy campaign video or not. Members should know I care and I’m not about to try to impress them with amazing media. I’m looking to get their vote because they want to vote for me and support my policies not because I’ve been flashy with my campaign.

5. How do you plan on standing out in the debates?

S: By being simple and concise. [W]hy over complicate issues that should be simple to begin with. [D]on’t make those watching the debate have to read a bible to get the gist of some of my points.

6. If you had to summarize what your campaign stands for in one word, what would that be?

S: [S]erver.

7. Name one quality you admire about your opponents or their campaigns.

S: They’re running, you’ve gotta be confident to run. [T]hat’s something strong.
